Updating Linux without a reboot

I found it interesting, as a proposal to update the Linux Kernel without rebooting it. This is not new if they are talking about doing a rmmod and then an insmod. Unfortunately their information (for developers!) seems like a commercial presentation and does not explain exactly how it works.
